Marmaris (Ancient Physcus)
A large natural harbour is surrounded by pine-clad mountains. It is an impressive setting for this lively town which thrives on tourism, particularly yachting. The modern marina accommodates yachts with high quality services and superb facilities - as good as anywhere in the Med.
Lord Nelson anchored his fleet here in 1798 in preparation for attaching (and defeating) Napoleon's navy. The town offers plenty of good shopping, restaurants, cafes and bars, and entertainment.
